Sidmouth Photo Club impresses at South West “DPIC”

The Western Counties Photographic Federation’s (WCPF) annual inter-club competition for digital
images (DPIC) is a high point for photographic clubs through the South West of England. This year
56 Clubs entered the competition at the Corn Exchange, Exeter, judged by a panel of three expert
judges on the 9th February 2020.
Each club submits an equal 18 digital images which are individually scored out of five points by the
judges, giving a maximum total score of 15 points per image. Prizes are awarded individually and
to the top two clubs who are invited to represent the WCPF at the prestigious Photographic
Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) Inter-Club PDI Championship.
The standard of the images submitted is extremely high and competition is fierce.
This year Sidmouth’s images were consistently highly marked and the club was awarded eighth
place overall (out of 56), jointly with Exmouth PC and Backwell PC.
Top marks for sidmouth went to Bob Reynolds for his wonderfully evocative image entitled Scottish
Wildcat which is shown above. The other successful photographers were Mike Hawkridge, Keith
Ridings, Harri Pollard, Sue Cox, Ian Hosker, Tony Spooner (President) and Brian Sherlow.
Brian has only recently joined the Club, his first Photographic club, and his worthy success in the
internal competitions and in this regional competition demonstrates perfectly the lack of barriers for
enthusiastic photographers to participate at a very high standard.
Well done and congratulations to the participating photographers from Sidmouth and all the other
competing clubs and thanks go out from the Club to the organisers and judges for their selfless
commitment to this very enjoyable annual event.
