The club has an active membership of around 50 and we welcome new members of any ability or experience. Please feel free to browse our galleries and the web site in general, and do get in touch if you would like more information about us. During our season, which runs from September to April, we meet at 7.30pm every other Wednesday evening, at All saints Church Hall, All Saints Road, Sidmouth, EX10 8ES.

Sidmouth Photographic Club held its first meeting on October 28th 1937. The venue has changed over the years, since 1998 the Club had been meeting at The Darlington Room, Abbeyfield Court, from 2013 at Kennaway House, Coburg Terrace, Sidmouth and now from 2016 the Club meets at All Saints Church Hall, All Saints Road, Sidmouth, Devon EX10 8ES. The season's programme consists of a combination of visiting speakers, Prints and Digitally Projected image competitions and a variety of in-house tutorials.

The club holds five internal competitions spread evenly through the season and in each competition members can submit prints and /or projected digital images (see competition rules). Independent judges comment on the work and give their marks. The marks are aggregated through the season, resulting in an end of season print champion and PDI champion.

The Club also takes part in three annual external competitions:
1. The Torbay Battle. The venue for this alternates between Sidmouth and Torbay. Each Club submits prints and DPI’s and they are assessed and marked by an independent judge.
2. The Horseshoe Competition. This is a print and DPI Battle between five clubs – Sidmouth, Exmouth, Honiton, Lyme Bay and Chard. It is held at an independent venue and the work is assessed and marked by an independent judge.
3. The inter-club PDI competition organised by the Western Counties Photographic Federation.
