Sidmouth Photographic Club is a friendly group of amateur photographers, with a wide range of ability and experience. The Club membership is around 50, and between a third and a half of our members are female. Meetings are well attended with over 75% of our members actively involved on a regular basis.
We are keen to encourage and welcome new members to join our the Club, no matter how much photographic experience or knowledge you have. Annual membership for the full programme of events and activities is currently £48 per year. to express an interest. We will contact you with any further information required and to answer any questions you might have.
Our programme of meetings will suit new members with a variety of interests and photographic knowledge. From time to time we organize “know your camera” sessions for beginners as well as tutorials on a wide range of subjects; these may be held on club nights or as separate events.
Sidmouth Photographic Club has been around for over eighty years. The first meeting of the Club was held on 28th October 1937 at which time it was called the Sidmouth Camera Club.
During our season, which runs from September to May, we meet at 7.30pm every Wednesday evening, at All saints Church Hall, All Saints Road, Sidmouth, EX10 8ES. NB
In accordance with best practice during the pandemic, The Club has continued with meetings online and please see the latest update regarding the current situation - Covid 19
The Club is in the Western Counties Photographic Federation (WCPF) which is affiated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB).
In the summer months we organize photographic walks which take place locally and are as much social occasions as photographic expeditions, usually involving a pub somewhere. Outings further afield are arranged throughout the year; recent trips have included visits to Bristol, Cardiff, the Somerset coast, and a two-day outing to London for some night photography.
A typical season's programme is a mixture of visiting speakers, interactive sessions involving tutorials, practical and critique sessions, and competitions, together aimed at inspiration, enhancing our photographic skills, and the enjoyment of looking at other people’s photography.
Besides our own internal competitions, the club takes part in several inter-club competitions locally in the Devon area; individual members and the club as a whole participate in Federation competitions. We also have an international three-way exchange with clubs from the Netherlands and Finland where they send us some images to look at and we do the same.
