| Founded originally as the Sidmouth Camera Club in 1937 when a small group met in the Commercial Hotel in Sidmouth, the club lay dormant during the years of World War 2 although a portfolio was continued to maintain interest. In 1946 the club rejoined the Western Counties Photographic Federation (WCPF) In 1962 the WCPF Members' Exhibition was held in Sidmouth at a time when the club membership was in excess of 100. The club meets on Wednesdays at fortnightly intervals, at 7.30pm in the Darlington Room, Abbeyfield Court, Station Road, Sidmouth from September to April. Current membership is currently around 40; new members are always welcome. For current membership details please contact the Club Secretary (see Who's who). The season's programme includes slide, digitally projected images and print competitions, competitive matches against other clubs and presentations from visiting lecturers. Sidmouth Photographic Club has a very good digital imaging record with members producing both prints and projected images; there is a dedicated number still doing slides. |
